Description

Description of the activity

Students decode a message sent by our Research Department. A computer virus scrambled some of the words. There is a corrected version and questions to verify their understanding of the message, for teachers.

Equipment needed by the student

  • Copies of activity sheets
  • Crayons

Equipment necessary for the teacher

Preparation

Make enough copies of activity sheets, one for each child.

Refresher course

  • Ask students to tell you what a marine biologist does. (A person who studies animals living in salt-water habitats).
  • Ask the students whether they think the water in the St. Lawrence is fresh or salty. (The water near Montréal is fresh, but just downstream from Québec City and all the way to the Atlantic, the water is salty.)
  • Ask them to name some animals living in the Gulf of St. Lawrence at the Biodôme.
