Site

Choose a well-aerated site that receives a minimum of 6 hours of sunshine each day, away from the roots and shade of large trees. Install a windbreak hedge if the site is windy.

Ideal soil

The ideal soil is deep and rich in organic material, with slightly more clay than sand. Balanced pH of about 6.5-7 promotes assimilation of minerals. The soil should be well-drained but moist, because roses are not drought-tolerant.
