May, Asian Heritage Month

  • Jardin botanique

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has chosen to highlight Asian Heritage Month at the Jardin botanique de Montréal. It is a natural fit: a place where Asian culture is embraced in all its splendour, in every season. On weekdays, from May 15 to 30, visitors of the brand new exhibit Venture to China: Four regions in one day, presented in the Chinese Garden, and Calligraphy: The Soul of Words, presented in the Japanese Pavilion, will have the opportunity to network and speak with representatives of Citizenship and Immigration Canada to learn more about the long and rich history of Canadians of Asian descent in Canada.

In May 2002, the Government of Canada signed an Official Declaration to declare May as Asian Heritage Month. Canada’s cultural diversity strengthens the country socially, politically and economically in innumerable ways. Asian Heritage Month is an ideal occasion for all to celebrate the beauty and wisdom of various Asian cultures.

It is with great pleasure that the Jardin botanique welcomes the Citizenship and Immigration Canada team to underscore the richness of an invaluable heritage.
