- Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium
Montréal Space for Life is unveiling a new double feature at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium as part of its annual program of activities inspired by light.
Dark Universe, produced by the prestigious American Museum of Natural History, in New York, and premiering in Montréal at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, is sure to illuminate you. The original English-language version is narrated by famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. His voice will whisk audiences in the Chaos Theatre off to the heart of a universe woven from mysterious matter and filled with dark energy.
The second part of the double bill, in the Milky Way Theatre, is an July 14 that actually reinvents the way we present astronomy! Pluto: Chronicles of an Ex-Planet was produced and directed by the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium team, using images shot in Arizona. It focuses on the dwarf planet, a hot topic this summer because the New Horizons probe is going to be flying by Pluto in mid-July for the first time ever!
“The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium team is always pushing the creative boundaries and raising the bar in terms of the visitor experience,” says Montréal Space for Life Director Charles-Mathieu Brunelle. “Without a doubt, our Planetarium is on the cutting edge in terms of both technology and artistry, always sensitively combining science, art and emotion. We are truly proud of it!”
