During the high season, starting May 15 every year, the Botanical Garden is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The gates to the outdoor site have traditionally remained open outside these operating hours. Unfortunately, recurring problems mainly related to the safety of the plant collections have forced us to make some changes.

Unlike the adjacent Maisonneuve Park, the Botanical Garden is not a park. It is like an outdoor museum, and its collections, our pride and the source of our reputation, must be protected. Consequently, the Botanical Garden will be closing its outdoor site outside of operating hours, as do other botanical gardens and attractions.

To give morning walkers and runners continued access to the site, however, the Botanical Garden has decided to introduce an Early Bird card. This chip card, with the user’s photo, will give Montreal residents access to the site between 6 and 9 a.m.  Evening visitors must enter the site before 6 p.m. and may remain until 7 p.m.
