Montréal Space for Life has once again been honoured for its Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, this time with a 2014 ESTim award from the East-end Montréal Chamber of Commerce. This award pays tribute to outstanding innovative projects in the city’s east end.

The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, already widely acclaimed for its innovative museology and green architecture, has now been saluted for its positive local impact. It is seamlessly integrated into the architecture of the Olympic Park and a perfect fit with the Botanical Garden, Insectarium and Biodôme, and has made a significant contribution to creating synergy among the different facilities in East-end Montréal.

Through their participatory, unifying approach, emphasizing authentic, inventive and committed initiatives that are open to the world, the four Space for Life institutions are creating a place where people come together to create, shaped by Montrealers and people from around the globe. The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium has been part of this vision ever since it opened, encouraging Montrealers and local players to become involved and think of it as their own. As such it is a leader in an urban and social development movement inviting people to reclaim, reinvent and make the most of their surroundings.
