Julie Bélisle recently joined the team of the Space for Life Biosphère museum as a cultural officer. Previously a visual-arts consultant with the City of Montréal’s department of culture, she was also in charge of digital-content research and development at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal. From 2004 to 2015 she was responsible for public programming at Galerie de l’UQAM, in addition to overseeing coordination of exhibitions and digital projects. Julie holds a doctorate in art history from UQAM, where the focus of her thesis was the gathering together of objects as a mode of creation, encompassing issues related to the phenomenon of consumption in art. She’s published a number of essays on various Québec and Canadian artists.
