With university degrees in biology, environmental sciences and in environmental education, Sophie Tessier’s professional career testifies to her great passion for nature and education. Adventurous and a jack of many trades, Sophie over the past 15 years has occupied a wide range of positions: naturalist in various non-profit organizations and at Sépaq, biological-sciences teacher at the college level and then, for one season, a falconer in her capacity as wildlife control operator. Employed at Space for Life during several years, it was in connection with the Jardin botanique de Montréal that Sophie took part in Jean Lemire’s 1000 Days for the Planet mission, on board the oceanographic sailing vessel Sedna IV.
