Cane toad

The young of this species have a very high mortality rate. For every 10,000 eggs laid, only 50 toads reach maturity. Giant marine toads were introduced in different countries (Australia and the Philippines, for instance) to control insect pests in sugarcane fields. Given their prodigious spawning capacity and their voracious habits, they spread rapidly, becoming a nuisance themselves, especially near human settlements.
