Evergreen shield-fern, wood-fern

The leaves, or fronds, of this medium-sized fern (0.6 m) are bluish, and form crowns in rather sparse colonies. The sori, clusters of small sacs containing the spores, are easy to recognize: they are round and widely distributed along the leaf margin. Dried fronds from previous years can be seen at the base of the crowns.
