Nakedstem aechmea

This plant appears in either epiphytic or terrestrial form. It has only a few, glaucous 49 cm long leaves, forming a dense tubular rosette. The leaves are leathery and have spiny margins. The leaf sheath is wide and forms a purple pseudobulb. The cylindrical inflorescence is 30 to 70 cm tall and has red bracts. The corolla of the flowers is yellow.
