Rugged goldenrod

Its flowerheads are visited by a large number of insects, including bees, honeybees, wasps and moths, even when the flowers have disappeared. In this species, the nectar is secreted by the bracts of the involucre. This is the only goldenrod in North America to exhibit this phenomenon, which can be seen in Europe among other composites.
