Origin and description

Marjoram is native to the Mediterranean. It has a milder flavour than oregano (Origanum vulgare), to which it is closely related. The leaves and flower tops are used fresh, dried or ground.
Cycle: Tender perennial cultivated as an annual in Quebec.
Spacing: 40 cm.
Height: 35 cm.

Pinch back regularly.

Propagation

Sow seed indoors in March-April.

Use

Culinary use: The leaves and flower tops are added to salads, vegetables, stews, tomato sauces and pizza. Marjoram is also used to flavour oils and vinegars. For hot dishes, it should be added toward the end of cooking.
