Curator's pick

This wasp is probably the insect with the longest oviscape, an organ that is used for laying eggs. When she is ready to lay her eggs, the female wasp looks for the larvae of another species of wasp hidden in dead wood. She lays an egg next to, or on top of, a larva. She then stings the larva to paralyze it so that her own offspring can feed on it.
