Just one year after its opening, the Montréal Insectarium, one of the five Espace pour la vie museums, is already earning kudos!

On April 21, at the Ordre des architectes du Québec's annual Awards of Excellence in Architecture gala, the Insectarium's Metamorphosis project picked up the grand prize for excellence in architecture, in a tie with the Centre culturel Desjardins (Joliette). The jury was particularly impressed by the immersive tour, which initiates the encounter between visitors and the world of insects.

Congratulations to the consortium of five architectural and engineering firms who won the international architectural competition for this project: Kuehn Malvezzi, Pelletier De Fontenay, Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes, Dupras Ledoux and NCK. Their talent greatly deserves recognition for the museum’s architectural concept, which also earned an Award of Excellence by Canadian Architect magazine, in December 2018.

Winner of an ESTim Award

On May 11, the Chambre de commerce de l’est de Montréal revealed the 12 winners of the 35th edition of its ESTim entrepreneurial competition. The new Insectarium project received top honours in the Public/Parapublic Sector Project category. These awards recognize projects that have had a significant impact on their organization and/or their community in Montréal’s east end.

Tourisme Montréal Prix Distinction finalist

The Montréal Insectarium was also proud to be among the 15 finalists for the 2023 Prix Distinction awarded by Tourisme Montréal in the Tourism and Product Development category - Attractions, Activities, Tourist and Convention Services. This award recognizes an initiative whose structuring impact is an innovation in the development of tourism, enabling Montréal to stand out on the local, national and/or international scene.

An award-winning museum offers a singular encounter with insects

In its new configuration, the Montréal Insectarium invites visitors to see the world through the eyes of insects and immerse themselves in their fascinating world, thereby changing the way they look at these precious living beings so fundamental to the protection of biodiversity.
