- Biodôme
On October 14, the Société des musées du Québec (SMQ) held its award ceremony during which the Biodôme received top honors for the Migration project. Thanks to the Excellence Award, Migration embodies the museum project that has stood out the most throughout the year in its category. Among the selection criteria: the testimony of entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity, and surpassing the standards of museum practice in both content and form.
The Migration project translates into colossal architectural work, a redesigned museum experience in collaboration with La bande à Paul, a renewed living collection, improved habitats, sustained research and conservation efforts, a new educational approach and two new exhibitions: Bio-machine and It's Time to Act. Migration is the very expression of the Biodôme's aspirations: to reconnect humans with nature by generating a sense of wonder, to make them aware of the issues that threaten it and to encourage them to commit to its protection.
Other well-deserved honors
Since its reopening, the Biodôme has received more than ten recognitions. Migration notably won the Grand Prix International in the “Interior Design” category on October 20, as well as the Prix du Génie-Conseil Québécois in the “Mechanical - Electrical Building” category a month earlier, adding to the many other triumphs.
Finalist for the Tourism Excellence Award
Good things come in pairs: the Biodôme is a finalist in the "Innovation and Product Development" category of the 2021 Tourism Excellence Awards, presented by the ministère du Tourisme. The winners will be announced on October 26.
