At the 2017 ESTim gala evening, the Chambre de commerce de l’Est de Montréal (CCEM) presented Charles-Mathieu Brunelle with the Orchidée individu Bell award for his involvement in the socioeconomic development of Montreal’s east end.

A committed visionary, Mr. Brunelle has been at the helm of Space For Life since 2008.  He has actively participated in the development of this major tourist destination, where the Biodôme, Insectarium, Jardin botanique and Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan play a key role.

The award presented to the Space For Life director also reflects his contribution to the local community as part of a movement for change in Montreal’s east end—by promoting collective creativity, inviting local residents to think about how space is occupied and encouraging them to get involved in this collaborative effort.

Mr. Brunelle has a long history of community involvement. He also founded the TOHU and has been part of major achievements that have shaped Montréal’s cultural scene, in particular the Compagnie Marie Chouinard dance troupe and the Cinémathèque québécoise.

Congratulations to Mr. Brunelle on his award!
