The Jardin botanique’s orchids win big at Orchidfête

At this year’s Orchidfête, the 22nd international orchid exhibition organized by the Eastern Canada Orchid Society (ECOS) on October 17 and 18 at Cégep André Laurendeau, the Jardin botanique team won six prestigious awards for specimens from the Garden’s orchid collection.

Prizes won at the event:

Best specimen in show: Cattlianthe Portia
Best plant in show: Guarianthe bowringiana
Best species in show: Guarianthe bowringiana
Best Cattleya and related genera: Cattlianthe Portia
Best other genera: Coelogyne ovalis
Best Dendrobium and related genera: Dendrobium C. K. Ai

The Jardin botanique de Montréal’s orchid collection is acclaimed throughout Canada and the United States for its quality and number of species. It is one of the Jardin botanique de Montréal’s largest and most popular collections, with nearly 4,000 specimens representing over 1,000 orchid species.
