- Biosphère
Today, Monday, April 12, 2021, the Government of Canada, the Government of Québec and the Ville de Montréal are joining forces to enable the transfer of the Biosphère’s operations to the Ville de Montréal, which owns the building, and to ensure continued funding. The operation of the museum will be transferred to Montréal Space for Life.
Converging missions
The missions of the Biosphère and the four Montréal Space for Life museums naturally converge around the importance of environmental protection and education. In the future, the Biosphère will therefore continue to address public concerns about environmental issues and engage people through its programs, activities and exhibitions at its wonderful site in Parc Jean Drapeau.
Montréal Space for Life’s fifth Museum
By taking on operation of the Biosphère, the Ville de Montréal is extending the influence of key players in its planned ecological transition, which is one of its top priorities. Once the operation transfer has been completed, the Biosphère will become Montréal Space for Life’s fifth museum.
The museum will reopen to the public when the circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic allow a safe return for employees and visitors.
