City of Montréal and Montréal Space for Life Honoured Once Again!

The Les Arts et la Ville network has awarded the City of Montréal its Culture et développement and Aménagement – 100,000 or more residents category – awards, saluting the excellence and originality of two Montréal Space for Life achievements: the integration of the Choreographies for Humans and Stars digital artwork at the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan and the Arboretum interpretation trail at the Jardin botanique de Montréal.

The integration of the Choreographies for Humans and Stars digital artwork at the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan, a project carried out in co-operation with the city’s Bureau d’art public, is in keeping with a vision of a planetarium combining science, art and emotion to reinvent the visitor experience. Choreographies for Humans and Stars is a decidedly urban artwork helping to forge a space in the heart of the city where people can come together to make it their own and learn about nature.

The new Arboretum interpretation trail at the Jardin botanique fits with Space for Life’s mission of showcasing our natural heritage and living environment. The different interpretation stations along the trail offer visitors lots of fascinating details about trees and encourage them to think about and understand our fragile connection with nature.

With these achievements, Montréal Space for Life is helping to build the city’s reputation and confirms its role as a leader in an urban and social development movement inviting Montrealers and visitors from around the world to reclaim and reinvent a public space where they can enjoy nature to the fullest.
