As we start the New Year and look back on the one just past, Montréal Space for Life can unequivocally say that 2016 was exceptional, in terms of attendance, international reach and visitor satisfaction. With 2 million visitors, 34% of them from outside Quebec, the Biodôme, Insectarium, Botanical Garden and Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium decisively beat all attendance records, with numbers up by over 23% since 2011. And to top it all off, a customer survey* showed a 99% satisfaction rate with the overall Montréal Space for Life experience.
The 2016 program of activities invited people to see things through a child’s eyes in order to get closer to nature and reconnect with it. The inviting, immersive theme, approached from different angles, set the tone for the many activities presented over the course of the year. Some highlights included the contribution made by many artists – Dumas, for instance, to the One Day… on Mars show at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, and the dozen local artists who gave intimate shows under the trees during The Arts Put on a Show at the Garden.
Together, the Biodôme, Botanical Garden, Insectarium and Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium invited visitors to enjoy a variety of fascinating activities. All these Montréal Space for Life experiences are designed to ensure that every visit and every encounter combines science, art and emotion.
