Each species on the list of vulnerable, endangered or at risk plants of southern Québec has been ranked according to the criteria presented below. The species with the highest points (greater than 18) are those targeted by the project.

For example, Polemonium vanbruntiae has a rank of 26 because the species has the following characteristics:

  • Global rank: 2 = G4 or G3
  • National rank: 3 = N2 or N1
  • Type of distribution : 2 = sporadic
  • Status of rarity: 3 = endangered
  • Conservation rank: 3 = S1 or S2
  • Taxonomical rarity: 3 = Sum of genus + species > 16
  • Vegetative aspect: 3 = Very interesting
  • Reproductive aspect: 3 = Very interesting
  • Habitat: 4 = Humid areas, sandy shores, outcrops, screes, bogs
