What should we do with the dead leaves fallen onto your lawn?

  • Botanical Garden
English

Dead leaves fallen onto your lawn shouldn’t be left as is. You can recycle them by progressively shredding them into small pieces with your lawn mower as they fall on the ground. Don’t wait until the trees lose all their leaves or for the leaves to get rained on. Ideally, you should mow dead leaves three or four times during the leaf falling season.

Dead leaves can also be used as mulch in flowerbeds and around trees and shrubs. It’s still preferable to shred them into small pieces with a lawn mower, because whole leaves – especially large ones – have a tendency to form a waterproof layer that disturbs the soil’s water and air circulation.

And of course, you can also compost your leaves by mixing them with green materials such as food waste.
