The library at the Montréal Jardin botanique is one of Canada’s leading documentation centres in horticulture, botany and landscape design. It houses a collection of more than 30,000 books on the world of plants.

The library also provides access to some 100 specialized periodicals, as well as multimedia resources.

The media library collections, institutional archives and historical collections of the Montréal Jardin botanique are also housed on-site.

Mission and services

Founded in 1940, the library’s mission is to meet the current and future information needs of the Jardin’s staff in the fields of botany and horticulture. The library also serves a broader audience, including students at all levels, plant enthusiasts, the general public, specialists and scientists.

The library is located on the ground floor of the administrative pavilion in the Jardin botanique Reception Centre. It is part of the Jardin’s free-access area.
