Accessibility and adapted services
All areas of the Insectarium are accessible to visitors with functional limitations; however, the immersive experience in the underground galleries (the Alcoves) may at times create a feeling of tightness or disorientation.
Please note that the From blade to blade room, located within one of these galleries, is not universally accessible.
Admission to the Insectarium is free for the companion of a visitor with a disability.
Pre-visit planning guide and sensory kit
A pre-visit planning guide for the Insectarium, along with a sensory kit, was developed in collaboration with Giant Steps for autistic visitors. The guide includes a communication board, a sensory map, and photos to help make your visit easier.

My Insectarium visit (PDF)
A sensory kit for autistic visitors is available at the reception desk. It includes five calming items designed to enhance the visit experience. The kit may also be helpful for anyone experiencing sensory overload.
Wheelchair loans
Visitors may request a wheelchair at the reception desk. As the supply is limited, we cannot guarantee that one will be on hand.
A piece of identification is required for the loan.
Parking and paratransit
The Insectarium has an outdoor parking area with 12 spaces reserved for people with disabilities, located close to the main entrance.
A paratransit stop is available in parking lot P2, next to the electric charging stations.
The Insectarium has been certified as completely accessible by Kéroul, which assesses the accessibility of tourist and cultural sites across Québec.
Insectarium Gift Shop
A range of insect-themed products is available for purchase in the Reception Hall, located across from the Insectarium near Parc Maisonneuve.
You’ll find insect identification guides, inspiring books, and fun items for the whole family.
Services for families

You’ll find a nursing room with a changing table on the admission level, in the hallway to the right of the elevator. Changing tables are also available in the women’s and men’s washrooms.
There is no stroller loan service at the Insectarium. If needed, strollers may be borrowed at the Jardin botanique by leaving a piece of identification as a deposit.
Changing rooms and lockers
- Location: Paid lockers are available in the admission hall, to the right of the elevator.
- Cost: $2 (single-use locker).
- For groups: In the Halte area, bins are provided for groups that have reserved their visit.
Reserve your group visit by completing our online form.
Service dogs
Visitors accompanied by a service dog are welcome at the Insectarium. Service dogs in training are also permitted, but they may not enter the Great Vivarium.
Proof of the animal’s vaccination and certification may be requested.
