The nance often begins flowering at the end of the dry season or at the beginning of the rainy season.
Specific genera of bees (Centris sp., Epicharis sp., Tetrapedia sp.) are almost exclusively responsible for pollinating the nance. These bees have hairs on their middle and hind legs, which allow them to collect floral oils and pollen.
Many species of local fauna eat the fruits, helping to spread the seeds.
This shrub can produce new growth from its stump via vegetative reproduction.
