Privacy

Ville de Montréal manages the use of personal information pursuant to standards set forth in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (S.C. 2000, c. 5) and the Act Respecting Access to Documents Held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information (L.R.Q., c. A-2.1).

You acknowledge, consent and agree that Ville de Montréal can access, keep and disclose information on the use of the present mobile application (hereafter the “Application”) if required by law or if Ville de Montréal has bona fide reason to believe that protection or disclosure is necessary to:

  1. comply with the legal process;
  2. ensure compliance with the present terms of use;
  3. respond to your customer service requests;
  4. protect the rights, property or personal safety of Ville de Montréal, its users and the public.

Geolocation

If you enable Bluetooth geolocation on your mobile device, this information will be used by Ville de Montréal strictly for improving the usability of the Application, such as, but not limited to, automatically adding your current position on a map of the Biodôme in the Application, or detecting your presence in an area of the Insectarium circuit.

Ville de Montréal does not keep records of your travel when you use the Application. You can also disable geolocation on your device at any time by referring to the manufacturer’s instructions. However, disabling geolocation may interfere with your access to certain features of the Application.

Augmented reality

The Application requires access rights to the camera and the device files for the use of augmented reality. Ville de Montréal does not store or save any information when you use the Application.

Visual recognition

The Application requires access rights to the camera and the device files for the use of visual recognition. Ville de Montréal stores and saves the photographs you take using this feature with the sole aim of improving the performance of the algorithm that allows for species identification from photographs.

Local files

Some data is saved and stored locally on the user’s phone (favorite animal, event reminders, time of last use of the Application, and others). It is not saved online. All data is deleted when the user uninstalls the Application. Except for the purposes of visual recognition and of maintaining statistics, and solely within the limits set out in the present terms of use, for visual recognition and for maintaining statistics, Ville de Montréal does not store or save any information when you use the Application.

Statistics

Ville de Montréal uses Google Analytics in the Application. Under the Google Analytics terms of service, Ville de Montréal must inform users of the ways in which their data will be used. For further details, consult Google’s Privacy and Terms: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites?hl=en.

Moreover, Ville de Montréal stores information on visitor statistics. That information is recorded anonymously and concerns such visitor statistics as pages visited, links clicked and favorites bookmarked in order to keep track of the number of visitors, the most visited pages, bookmarked favorites, the technology used by visitors to its sites, referring sites, and visitors’ country of origin.

Consult also the Ville de Montréal confidentiality policy, which completes the present terms of use.
