Free activities for reconnecting with nature

Spring is on its way backand this year once again a gentle breeze is enfolding the Jardin botanique’s Frédéric Back Tree House. Every weekend in Aprilpeople of all ages and from all walks of life are getting together to learn, explore and discuss topics relating to the socio-ecological transition. It’s Citizen Spring!

Encouraging participation

Citizen Spring arrives just at the end of winterwhen the need for nature and human connection is making itself felt. The unifying event, absolutely free, takes place at the Jardin botanique and brings people closer to one another and to nature. It helps us develop, togethernew behaviors that are ecological and socially responsible.

It’s in a spirit of sharing and caring that we invite you to take one more step towards the socio-ecological transition and the protection of living things.

Bolstering our power to act

Whether it involves sharing a creative moment with the family, taking part in a forest bath, learning to repair our clothes or discovering edible flowers, the Citizen Spring experience is transforming.

Many of the respondents to our post-event survey said they had a better understanding of the issues related to the socio-ecological transition and felt better equipped to take part in it. In addition to enjoying a moment that broke down the sense of isolation, they recognized the benefits of getting closer to nature and said they were inspired to take more concrete action and move in the direction of a more active eco-citizenship.

Partners mobilized to enrich the program

It’s thanks to the participation of 40 local organizations that the Jardin botanique team can offer close to 80 activities and workshops over the four weekends in the month of AprilAn increasingly important collaboration that combines the efforts of one and all and that pools complementary talents and expertise.

Obviously, here plants remain at the heart of discussions and, often, of solutionsStill, the Jardin botanique team couldn’t be happier that, thanks to the great diversity of its programming, both in substance and form, Citizen Spring reaches audiences from different backgrounds and with extremely varied interests.

Getting together to celebrate spring

Creating an environment that’s festive, family-friendly, unifying, simple and caring – that’s precisely the primary goal of the Citizen Spring eventallowing human beings to reconnect and to feel that they’re part of nature, in a state of interdependence.

New Features for 2026

Numerous new features are in store for this third edition of Citizen Spring, for examplemaking seeded, recycled greeting cards, an introduction to urban agriculture, production of a worm composter, or a meeting with birds of prey rehabilitated in Québec.

The friendly atmospherethe range of workshops offered, and the possibility of learning while having fun create an environment where you spontaneously want your visit to last longerIn years pastmore than a few participants showed up for a specific activity and finished by staying the entire day, and/or even coming back the following weekend.

If you feel like learning more, consult the Citizen Spring programentirely free of chargeeach weekend until April 26.
