Jacques Brisson

Jacques Brisson has been a researcher at the Institut de recherche en biologie végétale for 22 years, first as a researcher-botanist for the Jardin botanique, and then, starting in 2002, as professor of ecology at Université de Montréal. His work deals primarily with invasive alien plants, wetlands, and the connection between plant diversity and ecosystem services. He is the founder of the Société québécoise de phytotechnologie, and in 2016 he became holder of the Phytotechnology NSERC/Hydro-Québec Industrial Research Chair. In addition to his research activities, Mr. Brisson is highly involved in science popularization and in education: in 2013 he received the Université de Montréal’s Award of Excellence in Teaching. From 2010 to 2015 he was a member, then vice-president, of the Montréal Heritage Council.

Jacques Brisson is a researcher at the Institut de recherche en biologie végétale (IRBV) and professor of ecology at Université de Montréal.
