Laurence Petit, better known as the “Sidewalk Fairy,” is one of three artists to have pursued a six-month creative residency at the Insectarium in 2025. She explores the secret lives of insects through a series of poetic, playful mosaics that fill sidewalk cracks in Pointe-aux-Trembles.
With a delicate touch, Laurence adds details that are easy to miss at first glance, giving people the pleasure of discovering something new each time they pass by her work.
In keeping with its mission to promote the appreciation of insects, the Insectarium supports artistic creations inspired by the rich and fascinating world of insects.

Biography – Laurence Petit
Self-taught artist Laurence Petit founded the Gogofrisette studio in 2006. Guided by intuition, she lets materials and colours guide her. She refined her technique in Montréal, Philadelphia, Barcelona, San Francisco and Chicago.
Inspired by the fluidity of movement, her choice of textures and patterns often evokes the look of textiles. Each tessera is carefully selected to enhance whole.
Laurence is the recipient of several entrepreneurship awards. She led her first large-scale mural in 2009 at the Habitations Jeanne-Mance, in collaboration with MU. In 2022, she created her first sculpture for the Beauce Art – International Sculpture Symposium.
