Fungi Fest Mtl is a citizen initiative that wishes to introduce the public to the magical world of mushrooms through educational events and activities. All of our activities are free of charge to make them accessible to all. The goal of FFMTL is to showcase to the public the many important roles that fungi play for us in the environment, as a sustainable material, bioremediator, and medicine to name a few examples. This year we formed a partnership with Maison Robert Belanger in which we inoculated the garden with a variety of oyster mushrooms ( golden, phoenix, pink, and blue) with herbs, vegetables, and flowers. We created the mushroom garden to create a beautiful biodiverse area for wildlife to thrive and to teach the public about the benefits of growing mushrooms in the garden. Alongside being an educational greenspace all of the mushrooms produced on the site went to a local food bank. During the course of the Summer, we grew around 100 lbs of fungi.
