Garden for Life

St-George's School of Montreal has had a long term commitment to sustainability. Students lead projects of their choice as part of their Community Learning Program. Teachers and parents support their initiative and organize special events like the annual Earth Day Celebration. Last year, a group of students started collecting milkweed seeds in the fall and prepared them to germinate. Over 50 seedlings of milkweed were started indoors and then planted along with high-nectar native plant species in two Oasis for Monarch, one at each of our campuses (elementary and high school). Students are now involved in the Monarch Without Borders project and they have a beautiful teaching gardens to release their tagged monarchs! Throughout this experience, these students share their learning with their peers and family.
