When I first moved to Montréal to start a new adventure and experience, I had very little money whilst searching for work and was starting to become worried that I wouldn’t be able to buy groceries.
Then one day it hit me, I could start growing a garden from my kitchen scraps. So the first endeavor I did was collecting seeds from an organic tomato I bought from Segal’s Market and grew 12 strong tomato plants from it indoors during the last months of winter until I could transplant them to my balconies.
Then the selection grew, old potatoes that sprouted were planted, then red and yellow bell pepper plants were grown from seeds collected the same way as the tomatoes.
And soon enough I had a strong producing garden that encompasses both balconies. Everything is organic.
